About International Studies
International Studies is a multidisciplinary program of study that provides a strong foundation in the analysis of contemporary global topics, through coursework from multiple disciplines and participation in another culture. Students work with an academic advisor to construct an individualized Plan of Study that reflects their interests, goals and proficiencies, and take courses in a number of departments. The requirements enrich, complement, and coordinate departmental offerings with the goal of providing a knowledge of other cultures and understanding of global processes from a multidisciplinary perspective.

The International Studies major and minor were developed in response to the growing demand for knowledge and skills to successfully navigate concerns at an international level. This background is critical for students preparing for careers or further study in a variety of fields including international affairs, public policy, business, law, finance, education, and communications. The International Studies major draws upon the resources of faculty and departments across the university.

"International studies has allowed me to major in a more focused format than other majors. I have been able to specify studying public health, pre-medicine, Spanish and Latin America through I.S., and this will enable me to apply for either a masters program in International Health or a doctorate program in medicine or both."
